VMware Names StarLink First Global Software-Defined Networking Specialized Distributor

Distributor Aims to Drive New Digital Business Models in the Middle East

Sunday, May 7, 2017 - Dubai, UAE - VMware today announces a new partnership with StarLink to help Middle East organizations drive new digital business models. StarLink is one of the fastest-growing value-added distributors in the region with 770 partners, and becomes the world's first specialized distributor for VMware’s NSX Software-Defined Networking (SDN) solution.

VMware’s NSX virtualization platform is the building block for SDN. Over 2,400 customers rely on it to secure applications that can be built and scaled in the cloud, allowing organizations to have the freedom to innovate, keep pace with today’s digital world, while maintaining control of their IT environments.

With cyber-threats multiplying and disrupting traditional security measures across industries, organizations must protect business-critical data. By adopting network virtualization and SDN, organizations can automate data center infrastructure and security, without compromising the security or availability of critical applications.

According to a recent report by research firm Micro-market Monitor, the Middle East and Africa SDN market is posting strong growth to reach USD 118 million in 2019. Globally, the SDN market is set to top USD 70 billion by 2024, according to a recent report by research firm Research and Markets.

VMware’s recent Risk and Security research revealed that nearly 35 percent of IT decision makers in EMEA believe one of their greatest vulnerabilities are cyber-threats moving faster than defenses.

“StarLink is committed to our strategic partnership with VMware, with a razor-sharp focus on creating exponential revenue growth and channel breadth for VMware NSX across the region, leveraging on our security strategy that helps companies to evolve into a state of pervasive security. Customers will now be able to defend their data centers of the future and get a highly secure cloud experience, while achieving compliance and protecting their data from next-generation threats, wherever it resides,” said Nidal Othman, Managing Director at StarLink.

“We’re pleased to have StarLink on board as VMware’s first Software-Defined Networking Specialized Distributor in the Middle East and North Africa, and our first globally. This partnership will enable customers across the region to speed up the deployment of business-critical applications, but provide them with the control they need to protect their most valuable assets,” said Ahmed Auda, Managing Director – Middle East and North Africa for VMware.
